About the Event

At the SELF-TAPING For ACTORS seminar, you will gain valuable insights on how best to produce video auditions through DIY approaches that keep your budget low and your quality high.

You’ll learn how to select effective composition choices that stand out and grab the attention of casting directors. You will also learn how to properly light your self-taped auditions so that you look your best on camera, how to create pro-grade audio, and how to select equipment and DIY-alternatives that provide excellent results without breaking your wallet!

Also, this seminar will cover common self-taping missteps to avoid, how best to deliver your auditions efficiently and with appropriate file sizes, as well as recommendations for A/V recording and editing apps.

By the end of this seminar, you’ll know how to:

• Produce exceptional self-taped audio and video at any budget-level

• Avoid frequent self-taping mistakes that will ruin your audition recording

• Understand and apply the 3-point lighting technique to make you look your best on camera

• Make composition choices that grab the attention of casting directors

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS:

Sarah East (Owner and Instructor at The Audition Room) is a working actress, casting director, and member of the Screen Actors Guild. She’s worked as an Audition Coordinator and Acting Coach with the area's largest talent agency and production companies for almost a decade, learning the casting process from the inside out. After graduating from The American Musical and Dramatic Academy in 2005, Sarah spent time in New York City performing sketch comedy and improv before moving to Louisville, where she's grown her theatrical and on-camera resume to include nearly 100 Co-Star, Spokesperson, and Principal credits in film/tv, commercial, and live shows. Sarah's work as a private acting coach has been credited with helping students and adults book on-camera roles in box office feature films, tv shows, and commercials.

Neil Mulac (Owner, Everything Cinema Productions), is a professional actor, filmmaker, screenwriter, and teacher. He is an alumnus of the University of Louisville, where he studied both Theatre and English. Neil has appeared in numerous plays, music videos, commercials, films, and television projects, including the Hallmark channel's original film, An Uncommon Grace and the award-winning short film, Like Fiction. He has also co-hosted and instructed a wide variety of acting classes and workshops including, Improv for On-Camera Auditions, Intro to Physical Comedy, Accessing Emotions for Actors, and most recently, Film Acting Summer Camp.
